## The Animal Puzzle Doors of Hogwarts Castle

Hogwarts Castle is home to several animal puzzle doors that are unlocked using the same mechanism. However, the solution to one door will not necessarily solve the others. To figure out the puzzle, one must first find the cipher page, and solving it requires mathematical skills.

In this way, solving the puzzle doors at Hogwarts Castle involves two key steps: finding the cipher page and using math to unlock the doors.

## Where To Find the Cipher Page

1. You will first have to go to the Divination Classroom Floo Flame, which is located in the Library Annex

2. With the Floo Flame behind you, go left down the wooden walkway until you reach a junction where you go right.

3. Keep going until you reach a platform where you find one of these puzzle doors and a chalkboard.

4. While facing the chalkboard, you will see a little blue box on the right side of it on a table, open it and you will find the cipher page!


## How To Find the Correct Animal

The puzzle doors consist of the following:
- Two triangles that connect three circles, these circles are either filled with a number, an animal or a question mark (or two). 
- An archway on which 10 different animals are portrayed, each of these animals represents a number.  
- A number in the center of each triangle. This is the total sum you will need the circles to accumulate too.
- Near the puzzle door you will find two question-marked wall-dices, and if you role them you will find some of the archway animals on the other sides.

To identify the animal corresponding to the question mark, you can either use the cipher page or follow a numerical sequence. The cipher page provides the mapping between animals and numbers, while **counting from left to right starting at 0** is a simpler alternative. Either way, you'll need to use one of these methods to solve the puzzle.

So as an example:
- The total sum should be 11 
- The two filled in circles are a Demiguise and the number 10

### Solution:

1. Remember that the Demiguise represents the number 0

2. If the Demiguise is 0 and the number is 10, the total is so far 10
3. Now see which animal represents the number 1 (which is the Unicorn)
4. Find the corresponding question-marked wall-dice (there are always two and the number of question-marks shows which one corresponds to the circle you're trying to fill in) and roll it until it hits the Unicorn!
5. Now solve the other puzzle the same way, by making the sum and rolling the dice on the right animal
6. You can now open the door!
